When an accident leaves teenage cousins Meline and Jocelyn parentless, they come to live with their unknown and eccentric Uncle Marten on his private island.
They soon discover that the island has a history as tragic as their own: it was once an air force training camp, led by a mad commander whose crazed plan to train pilots to fly airplanes without instruments sent eleven pilots to their deaths.

3Marsha Skrypuch has led a very interesting life and is the author of many books for children and teens. If you enjoyed Daughter of War as much as I did, check out her life story.
In my personal opinion, Corps of the Bare-Boned Plane was a terrible book that made no sense and was just random nonsense from different points of view.
ReplyDeleteDaughter of War on the other hand was an amazing story of love and death. I would definitly read it again.

Corps of the Bare-Boned Plane sounds like an intersting read. I like random things. Stuff that doesn't make sense makes the story just that much better. I can't wait to read it ^_^

I enjoyed reading Daughters of War. It gave me some historical knowledge of the Armenian War, which quite frankly i knew nothing about or even that it existed. It was also interesting to learn abit about the Armenian and Turkish culture. However, I'm pretty sure I read the prequel beforehand......must've been way back in elementary school, and I remember wanting to read what happened to the characters and searching for that second book.....but i never found it till now. So haha i was really pleased to find out what happened to the characters, and that they have a happy ending. :)

When i was reading the Corps Of The Bare-Boned Plane i felt that the characters were really real because of their personalities. I loved the german house keeper and the uncle. But my favourite character was Meline.
